The Season of Refinement
Virgo season is here – and with it comes an invitation to return to what grounds us. In the midst of eclipse energy and the shifting rhythms of life, I’ve found myself drawn to the question: What’s actually working for me? Not just what’s on my to-do list, but the quiet rituals and daily choices that either restore or deplete me.
This blog marks the beginning of a new monthly rhythm – one where I’ll be sharing insights into my world, aligned with the energy of the stars. Even if you don’t follow the planetary movements closely, chances are you’ve felt their pull – perhaps without realising it. I will align each month with what’s happening astrologically. Even if you don’t follow the planetary movements closely, you will realise that you are impacted by their movements (it’s sometimes just not a conscious impact!). I’m super excited to weave this context into my personal sharing, I hope this will create an even greater impact and resonance with you, my audience.
What My Current Routines Look Like (And How They Hold Me)
Some people have a fixed routine that they adhere to all year long. Whilst I admire and appreciate this kind of dedication and routine, it is not the way I work best. I think particularly as women, we are more in tune (or susceptible) to the rhythms of the season, even our monthly cycles can determine when we are best placed to energetically complete certain tasks (For example, during my bleeding phase, I prioritise rest, reflection, and gentler movement – it’s a natural reset button if I allow it to be).
But on a more global scale, my summer and winter routines are vastly different. In summer I embrace the sunshine and get out of the house and move early, creating more space in the evening for cooking meals and hanging with the kids. I am naturally more active and enjoy evening walks with my kids/hubby.
In winter, my body simply craves more rest and sleep. I go to bed earlier and don’t force myself up too early. I reduce my morning classes to only 2-3 per week and instead I enjoy an afternoon or evening class. I use the slow cooker to help with the evening chaos (especially if I’m at the gym during key meal prep time). I’ve also learned in winter that less is more and that’s ok!
That said, there are a few non-negotiables that help me stay anchored, no matter the season:
- Exercise (even if it’s just a gentle walk)
- Morning cuppa tea (its deeply ingrained and is my little moment of self care before I start the day)
- Intention setting (usually accompanied with a card pull to help me to anchor to what I need to know)
- Journaling (before bed as a way to decompress and reflect). NB this has recently dropped off for me but I intend to re-introduce it
- Reading (I read every day before bed as part of my bedtime routine)
- Relaxation music and white noise (these are non negotiables and form my sleep ‘comforts’)
We all have routines, whether we’ve consciously created them or not. Some are empowering. Some are draining. And some were built for a version of ourselves that no longer exists. What I’ve realised on this journey is that perfection isn’t the goal. We all fall off the wagon sometimes. The key is noticing when something no longer serves – and gently choosing again.
If you’re like me, you may also have dropped some of your daily practices that you wish to bring back. For me, I was journaling daily and since working full time, I have not journaled consistently. I love using this as an outlet for my thoughts and dreams, so I will be re-integrating this into my daily routine.
Take 5-10 minutes now to work through these simple exercises I’ve mapped out for you to help to refine and set a clear and supportive daily routine.
Clearing Out What No Longer Serves
Now that you have an idea of what your daily routine is, this is your opportunity to review it and clear out what no longer serves you. We are in the height of the eclipse energy (Pisces lunar eclipse on Sept 7) and we have the opportunity to harness Virgo’s desire to simplify, structure and balance.
If you’re ready to clear space, start with these prompts:
- What mental clutter, emotional baggage, or habits are you ready to release?
- Write down one thing you’ve let go of recently (e.g., an unrealistic expectation, an outdated morning routine, or an unaligned commitment).
Eclipse season is like a cosmic cleanse – sometimes we don’t choose what gets cleared, but we can choose to surrender to it. For me, I’m noticing where I’ve overcomplicated things in the name of ‘doing it right’ or chasing perfection. The Virgo energy reminds me that I can keep it simple and effective (without overthinking it!).
Anchoring Into Daily Rituals That Nourish
Now is your chance to lean into what’s working – or what you’re refining.
Use these prompts to tune in to what’s already working and what you might refine:
- What is your current morning/evening ritual/s? (even if they’re messy or still in progress)
- How do you listen to your body, know what’s true for you?
- What helps you stay connected to your centre – even when life gets really full?
A daily ritual doesn’t have to be fancy. For you, it might be gentle breathing before the kids wake, lemon water in silence, or a midday reset with a walk or stretch. The power is in the pause – and the choice to be intentional.
A Gentle Invitation to Reflect
Now I invite you to reflect. You may feel called to journal or you might simply wish to sit with what comes through in your mind.
Choose one ritual to return to this week – and let it anchor you.
- What’s one routine or ritual that grounds me right now?
- What’s a habit I’m ready to release?
- What would a more empowered start to my day look like?
Let your ritual be your root. Start with one small act of care, and let it grow from there
Stay tuned as I re-introduce monthly blogs as part of my routine. My upcoming October blog will tie into the Libra energy, which is all about balance, relationships and harmony. I’ll be diving deeper into the theme of returning home to self next month, as I prepare to step back onto Niue, the land of my birth, and begin writing my book. But for now, I’m honouring the rituals that keep me steady here, and as always, I welcome the opportunity to hear about yours.
Live, Love & Laugh,
Tash x

Years ago I held the intention to be mindful during the morning preparation and consumption of the first cup of tea…I will re dedicate this time.
